Our goal, in deterring our youth from gang activity, is to give
them a wide spectrum of exposure to jobs and education.  We
involve them with our staff as well as community volunteers in
on-the-job settings.  As a result, our youth know how to apply for
jobs, interview for jobs, and demonstrate good work skills and
responsibility on their jobs.
Our Job Skills Training Component serves to increase student
learning in two major ways:  (1) youth learn how to get and keep
a job, and (2) youth are motivated to further their education,
because we require them to be involved in learning in an
academic environment in order to qualify for the job skills
training component.
